Science permeates our everyday lives: we use its discoveries, its inventions and its applications on a daily basis. Often, we are not aware of this. Fondazione DiaSorin has been set up to share the value of science, to promote scientific culture starting from young generations and to support excellence in schools. A valid demonstration of DiaSorin’s commitment to foster talent and schools to support society.

DiaSorin is an international player in the field of molecular diagnostics and immunodiagnostics for over 50 years. The Italian Group operates in five continents and it develops, produces and sells diagnostic solutions to help healthcare professionals to identify diseases and quickly define a treatment for the patient. Indeed, the diagnosis is the first step for assessing the state of health of each individual.
More than 200 scientists employed in research and development centres located in Italy, the United States and Germany are committed to finding new and improved solutions to satisfy the needs of the scientific and medical community and ultimately the needs of patients.

Ongoing innovation, strategic vision, passion for science and talent promotion are the hallmarks of DiaSorin. All of this means over 120 diagnostic tests thanks to which DiaSorin is globally renowed as the “Diagnostic Specialist”.
Indeed every second ten people worldwide come into contact with one of DiaSorin’s tests.

DiaSorin set up Fondazione DiaSorin in July 2020, with the awareness that science is a value for all and with the focus on the future of the young generations. The goal is to guide young people through discovery of the beauty and complexity of science and its method of observing the world. Fondazione DiaSorin adopts three strategic approaches in order to achieve this goal.

The setup of the Foundation leverages the experience gained in managing the corporate social responsibility projects of DiaSorin in the past and maximises the relationships already established in Italian territory with research institutes, universities and the world of schools. All this develops from the network of scientific high schools involved in the Mad for Science project, which challenges students to practice actively science, and supports the development of state-of-the-art school laboratories.

Now more than ever, our commitment is to drive the young generations to look at the world with curiosity, attention, a sense of criticism and awareness, to discover the beauty of science and to appreciate its value in our everyday lives.

The origin of an idea

DiaSorin starts developing the Mad for Science project to allow students of the schools located in the areas where the Group operates a chance to know the world of research.

05/ 2017

You never forget the first edition

The first edition of Mad for Science involved all the scientific high schools located in Piedmont. The winner was the Galileo Galilei High School, located in Nizza Monferrato, and the dream of having a new scientific laboratory in the school became true.

More and more Mad for Science

The second edition of Mad for Science was still 100% focused on Piedmont. The Monti High School in Asti won the first prize: another state-of-the-art laboratory, ready to inspire new young talents. The Communications Award went to the Einstein High School in Turin.

All around Italy

Mad for Science was launched nation-wide: the Spallanzani High School in Reggio Emilia took the winner’s podium, with the Battaglini High School in Taranto awarded second place. While the Cobianchi High School in Verbania won the Communications Award. Students started to develop a taste for the project!

Setting up of Fondazione DiaSorin

DiaSorin consolidated its commitment to younger generations by setting up the Fondazione DiaSorin whose mission is to promote the scientific culture and dialogue between the world of research and the schools.

Welcome Francesca Pasinelli

General Manager of Fondazione Telethon since 2009, Francesca Pasinelli has joined our commitment to a future shaped by young talents, scientific research and knowledge sharing.

Siglato l'accordo con il Ministero dell'Istruzione

La Fondazione Diasorin e il Ministero dell’Istruzione avviano una collaborazione per promuovere il valore della scienza e della ricerca nelle scuole secondarie di secondo grado e per supportare la formazione degli insegnanti.

Mad for Science for Teachers

Prende il via il nostro nuovo progetto dedicato agli insegnanti di scienze delle scuole vincitrici di Mad for Science: tante le iniziative per sostenere la formazione scientifica del corpo docente.

We maximise talent and excellence in schools by acting on the strategic lever of education. We are a non-profit organisation and we work in the education and training sectors in the field of science. Our goal is to support young talent, to foster young people’s interest in science, to promote the scientific culture and to promote the dialogue between the world of research and the schools.
